The turn limit depends on the type of axle shafts installed. Click here to learn more about a potential mistake in the service manual for these values:
Bendix Joints = 23.0 degrees. Use .3907 for the Sine of 23.0 degrees.
Spicer Joints = 27.5 degrees. Use .4617 for the Sine of 27.5 degrees.
Rzeppa Joints = 29.0 degrees. Use .4848 for the Sine of 29.0 degrees.
As an example, my tire has a 27.5" diameter for the value (h). The specified angle is 23 degrees maximum for a Bendix joint. Multiply the Sine of 23 degrees (.3907) by (h) for a result of 10.75". That is the desired difference between the measurements at the front and rear of the tire.
